‘We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.’

‘Collage’ at its most basic explanation, is a collection or combination of various things. In art, it means sticking different materials onto a backing. We think of ’collage’ in a much broader sense. Take a moment to think about your daily routines, you’re often collaging without knowing.

From the moment you get dressed, you’re assembling an outfit of various random items. We ‘collage’ in the kitchen, creating a meal from leftovers. You ‘collage’ to compile a music playlist, and collage with how you choose to style and decorate your homes.

For us, collage is a way of thinking, it’s a holistic approach and creative mindset to ‘reuse, reinvent & reimagine.’ We must champion secondhand, encourage the thrifty, and see beauty and use within damaged and discarded items. Throwaway culture & single-use items have to be abandoned!

That paper joint is a place that champions sustainable creativity, choosing to use secondhand wherever possible. The world is filled with so many amazing things already, and we just want to have fun playing with what’s around us. So as a business, we’ve made some decisions and lifestyle choices, that we hope can inspire you:

We bank with a certified B-corp. We use recycled packaging. We have furnished our studio almost exclusively with secondhand items and materials. We choose an energy provider that is investing in renewables. Our refreshments are all vegetarian or vegan. We plant trees for every purchase you make on our online store. We aren’t perfect, we make mistakes, but that’s okay. As Anne-Marie said, ‘We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.’
